How it works

From first call to finished job.

Six stages, and only the first one is yours. This is the whole process written out, including the parts most companies leave vague — what happens when a quote has to change, and what happens when something is not right.

The six stages

  1. 01

    Assessment

We start by understanding the job rather than pricing it. Sometimes that is a phone call and a photograph; sometimes it needs a visit. We will also tell you when something is more urgent than you thought, or less.

  2. 02

    Selection

We match the work to a professional whose trade and experience actually fit it. Regulated work goes to appropriately qualified people. You are told who is coming before they arrive.

  3. 03

    Quotation

You receive a written quote setting out the scope, what is included, what is not, and the cost. Nothing begins until you have approved it.

  4. 04

    Coordination

We arrange dates, access, parking, materials and any sequencing between trades. Where several jobs are involved, we order them so the property is disrupted once rather than repeatedly.

  5. 05

    Communication

You hear from us as the work progresses. If something unexpected is found — and on older properties it sometimes is — you are told immediately, with options and revised costs, before any further work happens.

  6. 06

    Completion

We confirm the work is finished to the standard quoted, that the property has been left clean, and that any certification has been issued. The job is recorded so the next one starts with context.

Fully managed

We do not just send someone. We manage the job.

The work itself is only part of what makes home maintenance difficult. The rest is finding the right person, explaining the job, being available, and keeping track of who is doing what. That is the part we take on.

The usual way

  1. Search for a tradesperson and hope the reviews are real
  2. Wait for a reply that may not come
  3. Explain the job again to the next person
  4. Take time off to be there for a visit
  5. Chase for a quote, then chase for a date
  6. Coordinate several contractors who do not speak to each other
  7. Hope everything has been finished properly

Seven steps, and the property is still your project to run.

The Jackson way

  1. Tell Jackson HomeCare once
  2. We assess what the job actually needs
  3. We select and brief the right professional
  4. We coordinate access, timings and any other trades
  5. We manage the work through to completion, and check it

One of those steps is yours. The other four are ours.

Questions people actually ask.

If yours is not here, ask us directly — we would rather answer it before you enquire than after.

Do you carry out the work yourselves?

Some of it. For the rest we arrange trusted professionals we have worked with and manage the job on your behalf. Either way, you deal with us — we remain responsible for coordinating the work and seeing it finished.

How does pricing work?

You receive a written quote setting out the scope and the cost before any work begins, and nothing changes without your approval. Where a job genuinely cannot be quoted without seeing it, we will tell you that rather than guess.

Can you handle several jobs at once?

That is the situation we are built for. Send the whole list. We will tell you what is urgent, what can wait, and how best to sequence it — several jobs in one visit is usually cheaper than several separate ones.

How quickly do you respond?

We review every enquiry and come back to you as soon as we can. Scheduling the work itself depends on the trade involved and how urgent it is, and we will be straight with you about lead times.

Do you offer an emergency service?

We are not a 24-hour emergency service, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. If you have a gas leak, an electrical emergency, a fire or a major escape of water, contact the emergency services or your utility provider first, then let us know.

What areas do you cover?

We work within a deliberately tight area, because being nearby is most of what makes a managed service work. There is a coverage map and a postcode checker on our Areas We Cover page.

Do I need to be at home while the work is done?

Not necessarily. For many jobs we can arrange access without you being there, and for rental and holiday properties we deal with tenants, guests or key handover directly. We will always tell you in advance who is attending.

Tell us what your home needs.

Send us one job or a list of ten. We will tell you what is urgent, what it will cost, and arrange the right person to do it.
